The application to build luxury housing adjacent to Eastville Park Lake was comprehensively thrown out at a Planning Committee meeting on September 2nd.
The Notice of Refusal sets out the specific reasons. As you can see, the application was incompatible with a very wide range of planning policies and specific designations – exactly the ones we had campaigned on!
The extent of the rejection is clear and unambiguous: as one of our supporters remarked; ‘That’s a whole lotta ‘No’! In fact, the application hasn’t just been rejected – it’s been thoroughly discredited.
We would like to publically thank all the organisations and individuals who supported, helped and guided us throughout this campaign. We couldn’t have done it without you.
It is difficult to see what grounds they might have for appeal, and the Committee Chair advised them against it. If they do we will fight it alongside the Council.
The next step is the Town Green application: this has been accepted as valid and is going forward for consideration. We’ll keep you updated.
This Community Association has been established to champion this part of the Frome Valley and protect the green space that runs alongside Eastville Park and the River Frome below Stapleton village. It is an integral part of the Frome Valley Walkway, as it runs through east Bristol, before the river disappears below ground by the Eastgate Centre.
We aim to fight for its future, and protect its past.
Welcome to the online home of the ‘Protect Frome Valley @ Stapleton’ Community Association. We have an expanding range of information and resources to inform you about the proposed housing development on part of Colston’s School playing fields and how it could dramatically affect both the wildlife and public enjoyment of this part of the beautiful Frome Valley.
